Becoming a priest or a man or woman religious is not primarily our own decision … Rather it is the response to a call and to a call of love. Pope Francis
St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society is a Catholic lay organisation which exists to help seminarians on their journey to priesthood. The Society fosters vocations to the priesthood and religious life. It assists students for the priesthood both financially and by prayer. It promotes the vocation of the laity and fosters a greater understanding and love of the Mass.
A group of six parishioners make up the Parish Branch of the Society. They meet in the Parish Centre once a month, on the first Friday of the month at 11.00 am.
They pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for those preparing for priesthood. They also collect funds on a monthly basis from supporters in the parish towards the formation of seminarians for priesthood and forward them to head office. The group helps to organise an annual pilgrimage to Knock and to Our Lady’s Island. They also promote afternoons of recollection and prayer for vocations.
If you would like to join this group or would like to request more information, please contact the Parish Office.
