Eucharist is the sacrament of Love;
It signifies Love, it produces Love.
St Thomas Aquinas
There is a team of lay Ministers of the Eucharist in our parish. They are typically on duty every second week at the Mass time they specify.
They help to distribute Communion under both species (bread and wine) at all the Masses celebrated in our parish church.
Some of the team also bring the Eucharist to housebound parishioners and patients in the Clontarf Hospital.
When communion is being distributed, people who wish to participate without receiving the Eucharist, or young children who have not yet received their First Communion, can approach any priest or minister with arms crossed over their breast to receive a blessing.
The team of ministers comes together once or twice a year to reflect on their ministry and to address practical issues.
For more information on this group, please contact the Parish Office.
Episode 16 of Pareach, our Parish Podcast, interviews a number of parishioners that help in different ways to make possible the daily celebration of the Mass in our parish: Sacristan, Ministers of the Word and of the Eucharist. Have a listen here:
