Each time a child is Baptised God smiles from up above
Knowing He has someone new to shelter and to love.
There are eight members of the Baptism Team and they work in pairs on a rota basis. Baptisms are performed on the second Saturday of the month at 12 noon.
The Team helps families to prepare for the Baptism of their child and they support them at this very special time.
Their duties include collecting the Baptism forms from the office, contacting the families and inviting them to a meeting in the Parish Centre. At the meeting the Sacrament and its Symbols are discussed. The Team also take the parents through the ceremony itself so that it runs smoothly on the day.
On the day of the Baptism they ensure the church is organised and they greet the families on arrival. After the ceremony they ensure that all details on the Baptism Certificate are correct.
Episode 19 of our Parish Podcast features a conversation with Roisin, a member of the Baptism Team, who tells us about the Sacrament of Baptism, the preparations to receive the sacrament in our parish and the group that volunteers to support this process. We hope you enjoy it!
