The Word becomes flesh and dwells among us, when the reader removes it from the printed page and enables it to live anew.
From the Workbook for Lectors and Gospel Readers
There is a team of Ministers of the Word or Readers in the parish. Weekend Readers are scheduled to read approximately every third weekend at their preferred Mass time. Weekday Readers read on a specific day of the week.
Readers proclaim the Word of God to the congregation at Mass. Preparation is very important and missalettes are available in advance from the Sacristy.
As well as reading at Mass, they are occasionally called upon to read at a specific service.
As a group, they meet once or twice a year, to reflect on the Ministry and to discuss practical issues.
